Warramunda Village is more than an aged care complex – it is home to the retirees of north east Victoria, and owned by a community that is committed to and proud of its Elders.
Comprising 56 independent one and two bedroom living units, a 61 bed residential facility with two respite rooms and Warramunda apartments consisting of nine bedsits and five flats – Warramunda is located in Kyabram, nestled in rural Victoria on 7 hectares of exquisitely manicured gardens.
The Warramunda team, backed and supported by more than 150 community volunteers, prides itself on person centred care. The dedicated staff recognises and importantly, understand individual needs and tailor care to suit the individual with respect, dignity and compassion.
We are family at Warramunda and we know that means respecting individuality, and providing kindness, empathy and support in an environment where self-respect and dignity is key. We have been serving the community for over 50 years under the care and guidance of a dedicated voluntary Committee of Management.
Residents and families expect the very highest standards in all facets of daily life at Warramunda and the truly amazing team take joy in consistently, and vigorously delivering on those expectations. Above and beyond doesn’t begin to explain the length our team will go to enrich the lives of Warramunda Elders. Whether it is sharing their wedding day, the joy of a new grandchild, or staying an extra hour or so after their shift to hold a hand, or watch a footy game, Warramunda’s team is its greatest strength.
With access to facilities spread generously across the Warramunda Village site, Elders can choose to be immersed in the carefully planned daily lifestyle and leisure programs, or enjoy the warmth and privacy of their own personal space or the many quiet areas around the Village. Our walls are plastered with photographs of the many events we have at Warramunda and our footy tipping competition is not for the faint hearted!
The hydrotherapy pool is open to and used by the community, children of staff cared for in an onsite crèche provide laughter and joy to residents, and visiting school children and family always add to the colour and vibrancy of Village life. The active Men’s Shed is a haven for male Elders who gather to potter, chat and enjoy each other’s company, and Bessie, one of two Warramunda buses is regularly on the road ferrying Elders to day trips in the region.
Residents have access to a doctor’s clinic on site, a choice of local pharmacies and the emergency health services are conveniently located next door.
Warramunda offers access to a physiotherapist, after hours staff, exercise programs, doctor consults and respite care, occupational therapy and social workers services. A 24 hour laundry service provides the essential comforts and our onsite hairdresser is a popular visiting place.
An outstanding seven day menu, prepared with nutritionist advice, is the envy of the region, with Warramunda’s meals, afternoon and morning teas and special event catering well known as legendary to members of the Kyabram and district community. We are forever opening the doors and inviting the community in – we love to celebrate and sharing our delicious afternoon teas is often at the centre of those celebrations.
It is no surprise the team at Warramunda has achieved maximum accreditation in Aged Care Standards the pride our team have in their relationship with residents and families and in the facility is palpable. Led by a dynamic management team that is constantly embracing personal and professional development for the benefit of residents, there is no greater expectation of the Warramunda team than the one they put on themselves.
Personal spirituality is highly valued, with a weekly church service and regular visits from local church representatives. There is plenty of parking, plenty of lawns and pockets of garden just right for a chat and a cup of tea.
It is nice to be recognized with industry awards for the work Warramunda does and our shelves proudly boast the awards given to the Village as well as to individual staff members recognized for their excellence in aged care.
We have two secure wings, Mary Sleeth and Rockman, which have keypad entry and exit in order to support Elders with the psychological signs and symptoms of dementia. These 22 rooms are well appointed with ensuites and are fitted with “out of bed” and “out of room” call monitoring. The wings are designed around a central community hub where residents and staff intermingle and can enjoy each other’s company, ensuring the highest standard of care in a home like environment.
Our room pricing is $350,000 with many rooms (often around 40% of Residents) available for Elders without the capacity to pay a Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD). For those choosing to pay a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) the equivalent amount is $58.97 from 1st July 2015. Alternate options including part RAD and part DAP are possible solutions for example RAD $152,000 and DAP $33.36.
